I came across this lovely little song off Charlie Hall's new album, The Bright Sadness. Charlie is associated with the Passion movement in the States, an organisation headed by Louie Giglio and whose artists include Chris Tomlin and the David Crowder Band. Although Charlie is perhaps less well known than these other guys, he is no less talented.

This song allows us to remember the foundational truths of the gospel as they have invaded history - Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again - and how these truths can invade our own lives. Musically, it has a wonderful sense of build. From the humble beginnings, the Snow Patrol inspired single acoustic guitar gives way to a stirring piano line, and the rhythm section grows in intensity as it plays against the melodical counterpoints of the multi-layered vocals. Charlie sings with aching vulnerability at the start of the song, before moving to a full-throated celebration of the truths of the gospel towards the end.

If you would like to check it out, it's currently on the play list on Charlie's myspace.

For those with an eye for web design, Charlie's website has a great flash intro, and you can listen to samples of all the songs from the new album.

I hope to upload the video of the verses we used during this song in the next few days. Check back soon.
